Children's Home |

For the past decade, our church has participated in a local mission holiday project through the Children's Home in Binghamton, NY. During each Advent season, we receive names and wish lists of children in the various programs of the Children's Home. Recently, our Sunday School children and congregation members have supplied gifts to 100 children each year. In doing so, we are sharing God's love and hope with these children whose lives have been disrupted. We collect the gifts annually during our church's Christmas party in early December. Hopefully, this allows our children to understand that giving can be better than receiving.
Last year, Rebecca came from the Children's Home to tell our congregation about the Home and its programs. More information can be gained through their web site - http://www.chowc.org/aboutus.cfm.
From the web site: "The Mission of the Children's Home is to enhance the safety, stability, and well-being of our children, families and their communities. We do this by providing comprehensive professional services which include residential, educational, preventive and therapeutic care. Many young people feel unsafe, unwelcome and unloved. The Children's Home partners with other agencies to offer a sanctuary of grace and hope to young people and their families." |
